Pioneering the Nigerian market, Bel Papyrus was established in 1987, initially located in Oregun, Ikeja. In 2004, to accommodate the increasing demand of recycled tissue reels in the market, the second paper machine was put-up in Ogba, Ikeja that boosted the capacity to more than 300%. Later, in 2005, it was upgraded to about 30% speed-up.
While in 2012, Bel Papyrus expanded further to cater the pure pulp tissue market, premium grades and the increasing demand of tissue reels both local and export market. Paper machine no 3 is a state-of-the-art Italian technology capable of producing premium napkin, facial, kitchen and bathroom tissue reels. It is equipped of sophisticated de-inking and fiber cleaning facility ensuring quality products for the customers. It is also enabled with 3-ply rewinding capability, multiple slitting sizes and an integrated stretch wrapper machine.
The Bel Papyrus tissue paper production is supported with a high-capacity waste paper collection facility commissioned in year 2011. It can process upto more than 100,000 tons per year with its sorting and bailing system. It is also equipped with various and appropriate laboratory equipment to compliment the comprehensive quality control parameters, process control and testing activities of the organization.
Aside from technology and facilities, the organization employs more than two hundred personnel including technical experts and management expats. The company is committed in product quality, environmental stewardship and employee safety.
At present, it supplies all the premium grades of Bel Impex Limited, its subsidiary company and the leading tissue brand in Nigeria.
